Welcome to the Australian Short Film Network Journal. We Aussies have an amazing history when it comes to making movies. The first ever feature movie, “The Story of the Kelly Gang” was made right here in 1906. Films such as Mad Max and Wolf Creek are well known and loved across the world.
Underlying the big name films is a thriving indie movie industry that is not so well known to the outside world. It’s even a bit of a mystery to many of those within it. The Australian Short Film Network itself was created as a facebook group to help connect producers, directors, actors and crew with each other and to help give some exposure to their projects.
This Journal is a natural outgrowth of the network. We’ve assembled an enthusiastic volunteer group of journalists, photographers and artists to shine a light downunder and bring you interviews and articles. Heading this team is the very capable Destiny West, who comes with a wealth of experience. I will now leave you in her very capable hands.
