David Black chats about Oz Femme Fatales of Horror Month

Wow! We are just past the half way mark in Feb and Oz Femme Fatales of Horror Month has been barreling along at such a break neck speed that people are bound to be asking wtf? Each day we have interviewed another amazing talent from the hard working women of Aussie horror. We’ve had actors, film makers, sfx make up artists, models and photographers.

It doesn’t feel that long ago that I was chatting with Destiny West and asking her what we would do for Women in Horror Month this year. She decided that it was time to do something special and uniquely Australian to celebrate our own home grown talent … and thus Oz Femme Fatales of Horror Month was born.

Our logo was created by Danny Zemp, who is an amazing cartoonist. He drew up our female drop bear who joins all of our projects together under one image. We haven’t named her yet, so I suppose that could be a future competition.

Another one of the things that has kept all of this chugging along are the OFFoHM trading cards which are being released by Terror Cards. Every second day a new one comes out featuring one of our amazing women. All up, there are 16 including an award card.

If that were all that we were doing to kick off the inaugural OFFoHM, then that would be plenty. But …. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the bush, we also have a photoshoot being done in Melbourne that will feature a number of our OFFoHM stars. It’s being done for a particular magazine, but that has to remain under wraps for now.

When the month comes to an end, it won’t all be over either. We will be looking back on OFFoHM with a special appearance on The Pop Culture Podcast in March. A few of our dark stars will be chatting away with Christopher Kai House who is all the way over in Milwaukee. That’s right, Milwaukee USA! OFFoHM isn’t just a local celebration of Aussie talent. Horror fans around the world are interested and want to know more!

We didn’t start this month with a big fanfare and announcement. We just dove in and got to work. Now that we are well underway, I thought I should let you know what we’re doing. Destiny and I thank everyone for their enthusiastic support and hope to make this an annual event.
